Let's keep the children of Greater Lansing smiling.
Changing children's lives, one bike at a time.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these children
We can help them pedal towards a better tomorrow.
We can help them pedal towards a better tomorrow.
For the past two decades, our primary aspiration has been establishing our own non-profit 501(c)(3) charity. We are pleased to announce that this dream became a reality in August 2024.
Pins 4 Pedals is now proudly operating under the umbrella of Hope Over Hurdles, a transition that reflects a shared commitment to fostering resilience and support within the community. This integration allows Pins 4 Pedals to enhance its mission by leveraging the resources and network of Hope Over Hurdles, ultimately aiming to provide greater opportunities and assistance to those in need. Together, they strive to create a positive impact, promoting empowerment and overcoming challenges through collaborative efforts.
Pins 4 Pedals is an organization founded by Denny and Linda Ellsworth-Moore over 19 years ago. Their primary focus is to offer children opportunities for empowerment and instilling a sense of hope for a better future through the gift of a bike.
Our mission at Pins 4 Pedals is to empower and bring hope to neglected and abused children in Greater Lansing. Through the gift of a bike, we aim to make a positive impact on their lives, bringing joy, excitement, and a sense of freedom. By providing this opportunity, we inspire them to envision a brighter future and believe in their own happiness and success.
Linda is an experienced Realtor at Coldwell Banker Realty who believes every child deserves a fair chance in this uncertain world. This fundraiser warms her heart. She loves providing hope and healing to children in need. Linda's experience of volunteering has given her a sense of gratitude and resilience.
Denny is honored and proud to be an instrumental part of Pins 4 Pedals. He assisted in getting this organization off the ground to help at-risk children. Denny has a strong commitment of making a lasting impact by giving back to those in our community that need it most.
Ilianna is a dedicated, compassionate individual with a strong desire to make a difference to those in need. She believes in connecting with diverse communities to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges others face.
Children riding bikes is a timeless symbol of freedom, joy, and exploration.
The simple act of riding a bike not only promotes physical activity and health but also fosters independence, confidence, and a sense of adventure in children. As they pedal their way through neighborhoods, parks, and trails, children experience the thrill of speed, the wind in their hair, and the world unfolding before them. Riding bikes allows children to connect with their surroundings, build friendships, and create lasting memories. It is a rite of passage that embodies the spirit of childhood and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.
The Moores, founders of Pins and Pedals, have raised over $450,000 and hundreds of bikes for Child and Family Charities in 18 years. They partner with Coldwell Banker Realty for the Gifting Tree initiative, providing over $3,000 worth of gifts to local children. Their community service earned them the Good Neighbor Award from the Greater Lansing Association of REALTORS® and the Michigan REALTORS® in 2020. In 2021, they were finalists for the National Association of REALTORS® Good Neighbor Award, receiving an honorable mention and "Web Choice Favorite" title, along with $3,000 in grant money. Their goal is to inspire others to give back and make a positive impact in their communities.
On Sunday, October 29, local REALTORS® and community members came together for a day of fun and friendly competition at the Pins 4 Pedals bowling fundraiser and bike drive benefiting Child and Family Charities. A long history of giving Pins 4 Pedals is not your average fundraising event; it’s a
unique initiative that aims to make a difference in the lives
of children and families in need. Over the years, this dynamic
blend of fun and philanthropy has made a striking impact on
the Lansing community.
